The Tournoi de Villemomble 2012


INTRODUCTION


Villemomble Sports Escrime (France) has been organizing disabled fencing tournaments since 2002. The « Tournoi de Villemomble », is an open competition mixed disabled – valid fencers.

The French Disabled Sports commission has once again entrusted us with the organization of this “9thTournoi de Villemomble” – 4 arms: foil and Epée – masculine and feminine. This competition is qualifying for the French Championships and will be the biggest international meeting of wheelchair fencing in France before the London Olympic Games.

The« Tournoi de Villemomble » unites more than 150 disabled and valid fencers. For the third consecutive year we will also be receiving fencers with visual handicaps (Epée only).

The competition includes the following categories:
Seniors, Juniors Men Disabled - Valid in wheelchairs
Seniors, Juniors Ladies Disabled - Valid in wheelchairs

This year an épée kids competition will be organized on the saturday 24 march.
This will be reserved to kids under junior category.

EUROPEAN DELEGATIONS


Following the success of Victor SINTES (FRA) in 2007, Matteo BETTI (ITA) and Patricia PICOT (FRA) in 2009, Alla GORLINA (UKR) and Andrea BALDINI (ITA) in 2010, Darius PENDER (POL) in 2010 and 2011, the FFH (French Disabled Federation) gave us their confidence to organize once again an International event with this 9th edition.

OBJECTIVES


1. 2012 : Confirm the “Tournoi de Villemomble” as an internationally referenced competition.

2. Our objective in terms of number of participants is around 160 participants

• 60 swordsmen of which 50 disabled
• 25 swordswomen of which 15 disabled
• 15 kids
• 60 masculine foilists of which 50 disabled
• 25 women foilists of which 15 disabled
• 10 nations

ENDOWMENT


The 9th Tournoi de Villemomble, as in the past editions, will be endowed with over 4000 Euros in prizes. The winner of the “Tournoi de Villemomble” will be the person who obtains the best ranking Epée and foil together. The best fencers of the week-end, Category A and B will be rewarded.
The prizes are not cumulative.


LOCATION


Salle polyvalente Paul Delouvrier 33 à 35 route de Noisy 93250 Villemomble (France)

Villemomble is located 15 km from the center of Paris, 15 km from the Roissy Charles de Gaulle International Airport, accessible from highways A3 and A86. We will provide transportation from the Airport or Station to your hotel as well as to and from the fencing installations.

SET-UP


20 pistes will be installed in order to assure a maximum of comfort for all fencers, disabled, visually handicapped as well as valid. For visually disabled, only the semi-final and final will take place in the main area to assure them silence during the competition.
